Terry Fox

Terry Fox was an amazing person, he ran 5, 374 kilometers across Canada in 143 days to raise money to help find a cure for cancer. He started his Marathon of Hope on April 12, 1980 by dipping his artificial leg in into the Atlantic Ocean. He ran a marathon a day until September 1, 1980. He stopped running because found out that his bone cancer had spread to his lungs so he couldn't run anymore. He had to get on a plane that would fly hin to Vancover but before he left he promised to everyone that he wouldn't give up fighting his cancer. In February 1981 Terry Fox's dream of raising 1 dollar from every Canadian came true. He had raised 24 million dollars, one dollar from every Canadian.
Terry Fox died on June 28, 1981 and then in 1999 he was voted Canada's greatest hero.
